Armação dos Búzios, or Búzios as it is commonly known, first came into the international limelight in the 1960s, when actress Brigitte Bardot fell in love with its natural beauty. Now it attracts visitors from all over the world and has even been called the “Brazilian St. Tropez”. It is also a favorite holiday destination for Cariocas.
About 170 km from Rio, Búzios is on a peninsula with 23 beaches. On one side, the peninsula is bathed by currents from the Equator and on the other, currents from the South Pole, which means some of its beaches have warm water and others cold. The beaches also vary in other ways. Some are tiny, others long; some have still water, others are popular surf beaches.
As well as offering surfing, kite-surfing, diving and many other activities, Búzios is a charming resort town that is lively at night. It has many quality restaurants for all tastes and a variety of bars and clubs.
In addition to touring around Buzios, there is so much more to do and see in and around the city itself.
